I recently finished reading Walter Mosley’s latest novel, Debbie Doesn’t Do It Anymore. Those of you familiar with Mr. Mosley’s work know that reading his books is like having a mental orgasm. His characters are enigmas yearning to be revealed.
Synopsis: Debbie Dare is a porn star whose former porno king husband dies after being electrocuted while screwing another woman in their bathroom tub. The death of her husband serves as the catalyst for Debbie’s decision to leave the porn business and create a new life for herself.
Mosley takes you on a complex journey within the mind of a woman who is determined to regain her lost soul. It’s a story of retribution and redemption. My only complaint is that there weren’t more sex scenes. However, the evolution of the book’s heroine is fascinating and you’ll find yourself rooting for her even if you’re not a fan of porn.
